About the program

The AI Associate Diploma is a computer science-based program designed for Afghan and Syrian refugee and displaced youth. It is delivered online across nine semesters and comprises 20 courses and 60 credits, and can be completed over two to three years.

The program is built to develop practical artificial intelligence talent: graduates who can apply what they have learned to real-world problems and who are prepared to pursue remote and freelance opportunities in technology, or to continue into further academic study.

Honest framing

The program prepares learners for remote and freelance pathways and builds a portfolio of practical work. It does not guarantee employment, and ODU makes no claim of placement with any named employer or partner.

Who is this program for?

The program is designed for learners whose education has been shaped by displacement. The curriculum document records the following realities, and the program structure responds to each of them.

Study may have been paused by displacement, relocation or unsafe conditions. The program is structured so that learners returning to formal study can rebuild academic footing.

Pace is not fixed at three years. The credential is documented as a two-to-three-year program, and the curriculum records a lower-intensity pathway for learners who need to carry a lighter load. Students are not required to complete the diploma in exactly three years.
